"Delaney's Little Black Dress"

Well, it's no secret that this smelly creature and I aren't exactly "friends". I do promise to keep him fed and let him out to do his business---THAT'S IT!! I refuse to do any "grooming". So, for you dog lovers who have been to the house, THANK YOU for giving Maverick a bath. I have to draw the line somewhere seeing how I am NOT a "dog person" (or a "pet person" for that matter). Anyway, I have officially spent the best $15 of my life. I called the MOBILE GROOMER who came to clip the dog's nails. I think I"m going to put their number on my speed dial!!! I tried to get a close up of his nails but I can only go so far (and besides, he stinks)! Onto much cuter matters..........Delaney's grandma Terry bought her the cutest onesie "This Is My Little Black Dress"....I had been searching for this very same onesie (since I was pregnant)leave it to a grandma!
Another shot.....
And in much more sad news (or exciting depending on how you look at it)....I guess I need to add Delaney to our dental plan....THIS CANNOT BE HAPPENING. I AM SO NOT READY FOR THIS!
I know, it's so unbelieveable...here's another look! I mean REALLY?? (Now, what you need to be looking at is the tooth below grandma's finger. The little white dot that is centered is formula).

I am so upset/sad over this that I am going to go for some retail therapy tonight! Grandma Terry is going to get some "Delaney Time" tonight............I am hoping to wake up in the morning and it just be gone!!

"Not Much To Blog About"

So I thought I would just show you some pictures....Delaney's grandma Cathy's friend Judy (got that??) sent Delaney a package. A new outfit in her signature color, pink, and some handmade burp cloths. They are so adorable. Delaney can go through three burp cloths before lunch!! She's been enjoying her exersaucer...........
and napping.......
And THEN, mom decided to put on her big girl pants and attempt to clip Delaney's nails....if you look real closely to her middle finger, you'll see what happened--I nipped her! I do not know who cried more!!

Delaney's grandma Terry bought her some new pj's....(disregard the easter bib--it matched!). This is how I found Delaney. I think she was trying to keep the sun out of her eyes! I guess from now on we'll put her sunglasses on her when she naps! ha!

And that's it for now. Not much going on with us this week. We are on day THREE of cabin fever. It is just too darn hot outside to leave the house. Delaney and I are holding out though, we will NOT allow ourselves to start watching the soap operas!

Sure Delaney Could Have Worn a Dress Today, But...

She decided she'd rather show her support for her daddy's favorite driver!! Now, I know what you're thinking, I have finally done it, I have lost my mind putting my daughter in something like this. But, I think the better question is WHY DOES MACY'S SELL THIS STUFF? To be perfectly honest, I bought this outfit the day we found out we were having a girl. Yes, I INTENTIONALLY bought it. Daddy said that Delaney could wear it but not outside the house. Well, since we didn't host the Brickyard get together today that means Delaney had to leave the house in it! I added the headband so there would be no confusion that Delaney is a girl!!! It has matching booties too but since my daughter and I are both hillbillies in the summer and don't wear socks we decided to forego them! Too bad Dale Jr didn't win.......
Delaney is four months old today. Where does the time go? She's smiling ALL the time, laughing, sucking her thumb (which is just about the cutest thing you've ever seen), still sleeping through the night (thank goodness), taking cereal in her bedtime bottle, drinking her pear juice and now using her Bumbo seat. I was convinced that she was still too small for it but see for yourself.........(p.s. I know you're wondering where the pink is) ha!

I like most things, am NOT excited about Delaney's developmental progression and so I had to make myself bring out the Bumbo seat but upon a second look, I decided this baby on the box was MUCH bigger than Delaney and she (ok, I) was NOT ready for it. So, I put it away. But as usual, aunt Angie decided Delaney was plenty big for it and put her in it! I"m already worried about the "next" step which I "think" will be her highchair.
Delaney loves sitting outside. Too bad she's like her mommy and is a mosquito "magnet".

It looks like a zit, but it's another mosquito bite. She is pretty sweet though, I can see why they like her.
and another bite.......
I sure hope Delaney's pediatrician isn't a blog follower........mommy finally "caved" and Delaney went swimming (earlier than he recommends). Thanks to great aunt Essie and her "creative invention", Delaney stayed in the shade the entire time (and so did the adults, I don't think any of us made it past the stairs where Delaney was!)...........
Apparently, "Carmel babies" take their bottles "poolside"....here is great aunt Beth giving Delaney her bottle.
Delaney gets LOTS of love and attention (and clothes) from her great aunts, Essie and Beth!!
oh, how I love this little girl.................only four months old but I don't remember life without her!

and she LOVED being in the pool (too bad we don't have one ourselves!! ha ha ha)

and lastly, could someone have told me (who sees me in these sunglasses) how horrible they look on me??? Guess Delaney and I need to go shopping this week----darnit!!

"Our Weekend"

Grandma Terry thought Delaney needed a new outfit. And, she knows Delaney's favorite label "Mudd Pie"!!!Delaney did not make it to the finalist round in the Beautiful Babies Contest. The contest was NOT based on looks but on how many votes the babies received. Delaney wasn't too upset over it (especially when I told her we were going shopping for those new pajamas)!! Besides, Delaney knows she'll always be mommy's little..................We got to spend an evening with cousins Elaine and Caleb who headed back to North Carolina this weekend. We are counting down the days until we find out if Caleb is going to have a new baby brother or sister and should find out next month! Here is a picture of Great Grandma Purichia with her three great grandchildren.............

We FINALLY bought some new chair cushions for our front porch chairs........Delaney approved! A couple of my friends came over and sealed our deck. 3 women, 4 gallons of sealant and way too many hours of work made for an exhausting project. And you would know, that it started raining once we finished it. So, the fact that I am not showing you a picture of it means I'm afraid to go out back and see what it looks like!

"Tummy Time"

I"ll be honest, Delaney doesn't get a whole lot of tummy time. But today, I got out the boppy pillow and gave her some. Grandma Terry is here today and is spending the night with us. We went through Delaney's pajama drawer and realized IT'S TIME TO GO SHOPPING!!!!! So, we will be on a mission tomorrow for some new pajamas!! Delaney kept sliding down..........

"Hey, isn't someone going to get me, I'm sliding down here"..........
"still sliding"...........
Thank you to those of you who took the time to vote for Delaney in the Beautiful Babies Contest. The voting ended yesterday and we're just waiting for the mailman to deliver our $5,000.00 check!!! We'll let you know when it arrives. Delaney appreciates your votes!!!!

Tennis Anyone?????

Delaney has expressed an interest in tennis lessons...(quite possibly just because she has the right attire). She may not be able to hold the racket yet but she sure does look cute! For some reason, this outfit just makes me think of tennis! And remember this store? Well, we just so happened to be right by it today but did NOT go in. I am teaching Delaney early the meaning of self control. And, the fact that the little girl has a wardrobe like no other, kept me driving right past it! Sure hope this mom shows the same self control when their new fall line comes out!

"Don't think we haven't had much to blog about"

It's just that we've had A LOT of "technical difficulties" at our house lately. This includes a "crashed" computer (again), my cell phone "dying" (and losing ALL of my contacts), the home phone line mistakenly getting cut which meant two days of no home phone service (which wasn't a huge deal because I don't know anyone's numbers and they were all in my cell phonewhich as I said was "dead") and when there's no home phone, there's no internet!! And, no home phone meant our alarm system was also down! So, it's felt a little like Walnut Grove around our house lately. As much as I complained, it was a little nice (I can't lie) to not be attached to so much technology! Last September when we had our "first flood", I called the electric company to see when we would be getting the trees trimmed out back in the easement that interfere with the phone lines. I was told (in Sept of 2009) we were on schedule for July of 2010. THEY WERE NOT LYING...........well this guy decided to (lie that is) IN THEIR WORK VAN. They unfortunately pulled up at our house just in time for lunch---well, if you call this "lunch". I assume this guy was on his lunch break..........

and this guy.....well, he's on a "phone break"............ not sure I noticed much difference out back. Let's hope the next time they come out (which is probably in 2030) we have a different and much more motivated work crew!

I took my annual Girls Gone Brown County trip this past weekend...I know what you're thinking, we look like we're on our way to Race for the Cure with our pink matching shirts!!! We always have shirts made up for our trip and this year was no exception (except that I didn't do them) our friend Angie (second from the left on the front row) stepped in this year and had these adorable pink shirts made (makes my cheapy white ones take a back seat)....the graphic on them is a cabin! They were great! Thanks Ang!!! We had a great weekend and spent some quality girl time together. It was my first time away from Delaney (two nights) and her grandparents came and stayed. I think overall, I did great. I didn't get phone service in the cabin so I decided to sleep outside on the picnic table just in case Delaney wanted to call me.....(she never did). Just kidding!! You know I can't sleep without A/C!!! We can't wait until 2011 and the planning is already in the works! Grandparents--be ready!
Angie's dad (same girl) recently retired and started making cakes...he made this cake for us! I know what you're thinking, no way is that a cake, but yes, it is and it was DELICIOUS!! I sure wish he would have found another hobby because I am going to gain all of my baby weight back if I keep getting to sample his work!

And of course what's a blog post if there isn't a picture of this little girl. I will never know what I did to deserve her. Delaney Catherine, as your daddy told you everyday YOU ARE THE LOVE OF MY LIFE!!!!! I know you're wondering why a girl with so many clothes is only wearing a diaper! Well, as I said before, I think she looks adorable in everything and that includes a diaper! She eventually put on clothes.

Delaney Updates

Recall me being "one of those mothers" awhile back who won't let Delaney get all of her vaccinations at one visit. Well, we went for round two and Delaney as expected did wonderful again. She got two shots at this visit and yes, she cried. But, I think she was done by the time she got her band aids. Delaney weighed in at a whopping 14.10 lbs!!! She is one healthy little girl. Her pediatrician said we could start adding rice cereal to her bottle before bed. Here is Delaney devouring her bottle! She took to it like a champ.

The Rapps and mom's friend Angie came and spent the 4th of July with us. Delaney was in her giraffe attire and enjoyed being outside. She even took a little dip in her frog pool. Oh and yes, if you're wondering, I have a thumb sucker on my hands. It's so adorable I can't help but let her do it!

Delaney's great aunt and uncle went to Florida and brought her back a Ron Jon outfit. Delaney can't wait to wear it.

Mom's friend Angie is determined to advance Delaney's development and put together her exersaucer. I can't believe how big she looks sitting in it.

"Delaney's First Wedding"

Delaney got to attend her first wedding. My step brother got married on Saturday evening at the Indianapolis Country Club. It was an absolutely beautiful evening, wedding and setting. The weather could not have been better. The ceremony took place under a white tent on the grounds and the reception in the ballroom inside the country club. As soon as we got there, I put our "plan" into action. I looked around for the best "get away route" if necessary (but you know how this is going to end).....I decided I would sit in the back just in case I needed to "get away" fast........to be in the shade that meant we had to sit on the bride's side (no big deal). I waited ten minutes before the ceremony began and decided to give Delaney a bottle. Well, if you know my daughter you know how well she burps and she made no exception just because she was at a wedding. She burped twice but I will take burping over crying any day. She was as usual.......PERFECT during the entire evening. I told the bride and groom their's was our "test wedding" and Delaney passed with flying colors...............She had a new dress, new socks, new shoes and a new bib. She did not however have a new slip to go under her dress (stay tuned on how we handled that fashion mistake)...........here is her new bib her grandma Terry got her (Delaney was ready for ice cream)! P.S. she wasn't into smiling for any of the pictures that night. Here we are just before dinner. I laughed---I was the first one to COMPLETELY finish my dinner at our table. I "reminded" everyone I rarely get a hot meal these days and not to make fun of me!

Delaney's grandpa holding her..............Delaney loves her grandpa! We teased him he looked like Johnny Cash in his black tux before he added the tie.

Here is mommy's friends getting Delaney ready ---all THREE of them. I was getting ready myself and had NO clue what was going on--including the fact they made my daughter a slip out of a onesie!! I will never forget Angie asking me if Delaney has any "sleeveless onesies"---she does now!!!!! Yes, that is a onesie and they cut the sleeves out of it so her dress wouldn't be "itchy" on her---my poor daughter now owns a "wife beater".

Never mind that the cake is leaning. A "leaning" cake tastes just as good as one that is not leaning. The cake was delicious!! The bride's dress......absolutely gorgeous!!

And they lived happily ever after..............(hope they are enjoing Mexico)! Only young kids could take the hot Mexican heat in July!
