Week "End" Wrap Up

Delaney did/said a few things this week I thought should be repeated........

Delaney does not miss a beat, the girl notices anything new/different (as in the new box of Kleenex in the bathroom).  The other morning grandma and grandpa came over to watch her while I went to the dentist.  She stood at the front door waiting for them to arrive and as soon as they pulled in the driveway she looked back at me and said "bye mommy"!! How did she know they weren't just coming to visit!?!?!?!  The girl does not know the meaning of "separation anxiety".  As my mom was walking up the driveway, Delaney noticed she was carrying a new handbag and said "mammaw new purse"!! She told me that morning she had "debbled" eggs for breakfast!  I informed her she had scrambled eggs, not deviled eggs!

When I can tell she is "doing her business" I ask her if she wants to go in the toilet and she wrinkles her nose and says "no mommy no".  We'll work on that later...........

She can tell when Sesame Street is about to come to an end and before the credits begin she grabs the remote and says "more Elmo".  She has no concept of the show being called Sesame Street!! She also has no concept of how many times a day one person can stand to watch Elmo!

Delaney LOVES our next door neighbors.  She knows what each of them drive and stands at the front window/door and announces when they are coming/going.  The wife leaves each night for work at 8:30 and she and Delaney have a ritual.  Delaney stands at the front door and waives bye to her and blows her kisses as she's driving by.  I have warned them never to get new vehicles or that will really throw off Delaney.  The wife drives a Kia Soul and whenever the Kia commercial comes on and Delaney sees the car (different color) she says "Debbie's car".  The girl could seriously head up our neighborhood watch program she spends so much time staring out the front window!  The husband next door always wears a sweatband on his head when he mows.  The other day he walked over to see Delaney and had a sweatband around his wrist and Delaney said "Alan mow"!! He wasn't going to mow but she sure thought he was! I mean is ANYONE mowing these days with the 2012 drought going on?????

I have no recollection of ever talking about ladybugs with Delaney but the other day we were outside on the front porch and one was crawling and Delaney pointed at it and said "ladybug" (and then she picked it up and it met an early death).  Later that night Delaney was picking up her books and I saw her ladybug book and realized that's how she knows about ladybugs!

When I put Delaney to bed I say "love you baby" and with her thumb in her mouth she says "love lou baby". MELT.MY.HEART.

And, if you've managed to stick with me throughout this long post (likely just the grandmas) I thought I would reward you with a picture (because who likes a blogpost with no pictures!?).

"Official" Review...........

I"m not sure if the movie was PACKED (we went to the 11:10 a.m.) because of the heat wave we are having here in Indiana or because of these guys......................................

Regardless, I really enjoyed the movie!
And you would know that going to the movies and coming home with Mary Kay products could only happen to me!  Karey and I offered to move seats with 3 ladies and one of them was a Mary Kay rep and turned around and handed us little goodie bags of Mary Kay products (and more importantly, a piece of chocolate)!!!

There's only ONE thing......

that will cause me to step foot outside during the drought of 2012...............

Stay tuned for my "official" review.......................

Target

I found this on Pinterest (and if you don't know what that is by now then you are a lost cause!) and just had to share!  It of course reminded me of a "Dave and Ashley" story!  David forbid didn't like me to shop at Target.  He said that Target is a French owned company and the French didn't support the U.S. in the war.  Um, yes people, that is a true story---frankly, I can't confirm nor deny if it's true nor do I care seeing how our home/wardrobe wouldn't be the same without our home away from home.  So, my Target purchases became "I can't remember where it came from purchases".  Secondly, when our local Target was built, it was built on the "wrong side of the road".  The road divided two townships.  One we lived in, and one David worked in.  Because it did not get built in the one he worked in, that meant less income to the township, which meant less money for raises for those who worked in the township which in turn meant LESS MONEY FOR ME TO SHOP AT TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!!

Little Hot Mess!

Sorry for the bad picture (the quality, not content) but I couldn't resist sharing this one. TOTALLY depicts Delaney's personality.  To just pick up the hat, put it on and then turn to look at me as if I would possibly want her picture in it!  Which, of course, I did!!!

Better Late Than Never!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok so maybe it has been THREE months since my sweet cheeks turned TWO and maybe you gave up on me posting her two year post but I promised and although it's taken me much longer than expected, I am finally getting it done.  It will be up in parts so for Part I you will need to go back to March 25th.  I also forgot to tell you that I put up the Easter post too (April 8th)!

"Call Pappaw"

Here is Delaney's "latest".  It is really funny in person.  I always forget about Siri on my phone and could count on one hand how many times I have used it!  But, in true Delaney form, show her (or let her see) something once and she remembers!  I am reminded on a daily basis how children learn what they see!
It's a good thing Delaney's pappaw isn't programmed in my phone as pappaw or she would be making a lot of calls!!!!!

Thursday Tidbits

Delaney loves to wear her "lop lops" (even if they are on the wrong feet)
Delaney knows that we use coasters.  She will get one out of the drawer for her cup if one isn't already sitting out.  She knows this is non-negotiable!
She also knows she isn't allowed to eat in the living room.
Perhaps this is a little "more" negotiable.
We went to Amy's last night so Delaney could get her toenails painted (yes, you read that correctly) and this magnet was on Amy's refrigerator.  Delaney walked up to it and pointed to it and said "Dr. Phil".  I cannot tell you the last time I watched Dr. Phil (not to mention she's typically napping when he's on)!!!!
Every time we are out playing with Delaney's water table she says "more wa wa".  Never mind it has water in it.  Yesterday, she marched herself over to the spigot (barefoot in the rocks) to try to turn it on!  Perhaps she can start watering the flowers.........

"GunGreen"

Delaney knows before going outside to swim she has to put on "Gungreen" (oh, and her cute little swim hat from Janie and Jack)!!!  It's hard to tell in the picture but I tried Neutragena's Pure and Free Baby sunscreen (I always ask my dermatologist what she recommends) and I really like it.  Delaney has not gotten sunburned at all.

Seriously???

Is there anything left this little girl could possibly need me for? She puts her shoes on and her shorts! I guess I am still needed for shirts!!

"Mommy"

I've been wanting to record this.  This is the "sound" I wake up to each morning (preferably at this time!!!)

This and That

Delaney and I got up and got ready for story time yesterday.  I told her if momma didn't have time to flat iron her hair, Delaney didn't have time! While we were there, Delaney stood up, pulled up her shirt and held it up with her chin while she tried to undo her belt!  I reminded her that I was trying to redeem myself with the other mothers after my little "lock my kid in a hot car episode" and then she goes and lifts up her shirt!!!  I even wore a cardigan to story time (after all, I am the oldest mom there I need to dress the part!!) but after I suggested we ditch the children's books and read Fifty Shades of Grey instead, I'm sure I'm banned from the library!  And I bet I'm not the only mom who let their kid watch the premiere of Dallas either!!!! ha ha ha

She loves to wash her hands!
 And
 Entertain!
Oh, and remember this??? Well, every night since Sunday at exactly 5:01 p.m. I hold my breath and listen to see if my number (18) is called!  Finally, last night, I was released and don't have to keep calling so in the trash it went!  It is so hard to plan your week with the possibility of jury duty looming over you!

Holiday World

Last week we went with grandma and grandpa to Holiday World.  We left Monday night and stayed the night so we would be there bright and early when Delaney woke up at 9:00 a.m.!! We got to the park just after it opened and went straight to the kid area (Rudolph something??) so Delaney could ride some rides (after I demanded to review each and every ride inspection report of course)!!!
 First up, the carousel........
And then, the rockets!  I looked over at my mom and said "just so you know, I have absolutely no problem making them stop this ride if Delaney doesn't like it"......
Then I reminded her to hold on with both hands.....
See how well she listened...she went around the entire time doing her pageant wave and telling everyone "hi".........this girl never ceases to amaze me! So, after ride #2, I knew she was "all in"!!!
I"ll be honest, when she wanted to ride this ride (and it had a wait) I was thinking there is no way she'll do this.  And I"ll be more honest ONCE I DISCOVERED THERE WERE NO SEAT BELTS had she backed out of wanting to ride it that would have been just fine with me!  Do you see the boy in the background in the red shirt?  I may or may not have threatened him if he took his eyes off my girl!!!!!  I mean there were NO seat belts do you blame me!!!
She likes to take control of the wheel (like her momma)!!
See, even grandpa fell for it on the Jeeps!
I can assure you I did NOT ride any roller coasters (hate them!) and neither did Delaney but her grandpa sure did!
And then we found the fish ride which was by far her favorite!
After lunch, we decided it was time to do a water test on their pool water try out the water park and it did NOT disappoint!  My mom observed that Delaney was the only kid in the water park wearing a life preserver!  I decided I was the only mom in the park who apparently loved their kid!!  I mean so what if the water was only 12 inches deep!
Delaney loved the free "minutelaid" which is her version of lemonade!...........
 See
 What
 I
 Mean????
My daughter is fearless PERIOD.  At the top of the slide there was a photo along with the rules for using the slides and it clearly showed AND SAID you must go down feet first and sit on your bottom!!  I kept waiting for the lifeguard to blow his whistle at Delaney for going down face first.  This is the ONLY way Delaney EVER goes down a slide!!!!!
After 7 hours it was time to head home and 17 minutes after getting on the road, she was asleep!
We had a great day and will definitely be going back.

Major Milestone!!

I know this isn't a good picture but I was in a hurry to get it before Delaney looked up at me.  Yesterday, for the very first time, I took a shower and DIDN'T PUT DELANEY IN THE PACK N PLAY (which by the way she was saying the other day and it sounded like "paper plate")!!!!  My girl is a climber and I have always been so afraid that she would climb onto the sofa and knock down the big glass pictures above it or do something else to get hurt and well you surely know by now if you've read this blog how CRAAAAZY I am and how irrational I can be.  I really don't know what came over me.  I did a quick scan of the room to see if there was anything that needed removed (besides the pictures!! ha ha) and I left the bathroom door cracked but she never came in so I shaved my legs like a mad woman as I was second guessing letting her do this!  When I got out, I came to the living room where A. SHE WAS STILL ALIVE and B. had made just a small mess on the floor of her books.  I just couldn't believe my eyes, she was unharmed!! ha ha ha
But that DOESN'T mean I'll be putting away the "paper plate" anytime soon!

P.S. I know you don't have to ask---she's watching who else....ELMO!

Back to Reality

Now that one of us has finished Fifty Shades of Grey we are now able to finally leave the house (and stop eating Ritz crackers for dinner!)  We had a couple of returns to Kohls this week.  Delaney does not understand the concept of "returns".  I explained to her that that doesn't mean putting on Vera Wang sunglasses and getting a new Dora book!  She was perfectly content enjoying these items while we were in the store and then they made their way back to their department. Well, maybe not the book!  I just couldn't chance going back to the toy department again!  Sorry Kohls employees!  You'll find the book in the jewelry department!

There is a VERY short window for us to run errands between when Delaney gets up and nap time and we rarely make it home in time before she falls asleep in the car! I don't know why the "pouty" face!  Maybe she's mad I didn't get her the Dora book!
(notice the pony tail is long gone--we lost it in the accessories department)

Seriously????

I can assure you I am not, nor will EVER be ready for this!!
 EVER!!!
Delaney LOVES to bug help me in the bathroom when I am getting ready!!!
