"Calling All Units"...we've got an A.P.B. on "day day"

This HAS to be blogged about! The other night it was bedtime so I told Delaney to get her babies but the problem was we had a missing baby! I searched the house high and low (including the bathtub) and could not find her baby. She of course sat in the chair and watched me search. Then I told her it was her baby and she needed to help look for her. She got up and got down on the floor and looked under the sofa--no baby. Then she walked down the hall to her bedroom and walked in and looked inside her clothes hamper---no baby. So then I retraced my steps and looked every single place I had already looked 10 times. I decided the girl was going to bed with just one baby! But then, I remembered, it's always the last place you look so keep looking. My little darling had stuck her baby in the drawer of the end table! So we canceled the A.P.B.!!!!!

Thanksgiving---Take Two

We had our second Thanksgiving get together at aunt Beth's house on Saturday which was a GORGEOUS day!! Delaney wanted to go outside---so she got to go outside....Delaney wanted uncle Jim to take her for a walk---so uncle Jim took her for a walk (you get the idea of who's in charge)................
Aunt Beth had Delaney's toys ready..................
But Delaney would rather sit in the kitchen with the women and talk (and eat crackers).....
There are so many things to be thankful for including Janie and Jack----I mean seriously, have you ever seen such cute clothes????? I bought this skirt last year (but their clothes run big) and it took an entire year to find a solid brown shirt to go with it (I am NOT joking just ask aunt Karey) this skirt went with us every time we shopped and was a permanent fixture in my purse! And here is a picture of Delaney eating another cracker---IN THE LIVING ROOM!!! This kid gets away with everything at aunt Beth's house.
On Sunday, the weather was the complete opposite of Saturday's. Watching the Colts game from the comfort of our home seemed much better than getting out in the rain so that's what we did. Delaney wanted to have a jammie day so...that's what we did! She stayed in her pj's until bath time and after that, she just put on a new pair!
Leftovers for dinner.................
I want to blog about this---picture grown adults sitting around the Thanksgiving table with Delaney sitting at the head of the table. She has really been into The Itsy Bitsy Spider (courtesy of aunt Karey) and she started doing it. Which consists of putting her two index fingers together and saying "eat eat" which is suppose to be itsy....I think. So then the entire table of adults starts doing The Itsy Bitsy Spider!!! She really does have us wrapped around her "Itsy Bitsy" fingers!!!!

tWeNtY???

People always say how fast kids grow up and I'm here to "show" you...........I feel like I put Delaney to bed looking like this.........................
and she woke up looking like this........................
According to the calendar, it's been 20 months but it sure doesn't feel like it. Someone recently asked me how old Delaney was and I said "20 months but it feels like 20 days". I am constantly amazed at how fast she is learning, developing and growing. Just yesterday, I was asked if she was talking....."uh, she's her mother's daughter of course she's talking". I used to be able to list each month her "new words" but I just can't keep up with her. For instance, today she said the following "new things"
  • "no more"
  • "dirty" (as she was putting her dirty clothes in her laundry basket)
  • and just about 2 seconds ago, I had to stop typing and go and get her more milk and when I asked her if she wanted more she shook her head yes and said "uh huh"
Another funny thing Delaney did today was when she was hugging her puppy dog and then I looked over and she was SMELLING ITS FEET!!! Then, she brought it over to me for me to smell its feet! This girl has a problem! Oh my land she is so much fun!!!!

Delaney Cat,

Tonight you sat on my lap and watched The Elf on the Shelf and it was so sweet. You did really well paying attention. I can't wait for you to name your Elf! You wake up in the morning and you are nonstop ALL DAY LONG. You make a mess ALL DAY LONG and I wouldn't have it any other way!! Since you were born I have called you random nicknames (boo boo bunny, boo boo bear---your daddy hated BOTH), Lou Lou, but lately, I have been calling you "presh" which is of course short for precious! The next door neighbors have new puppies (and NO, you are not getting one) and they were outside today and you stood at the window and pointed to them and said "puppy"---which I have never heard you say before! We went out to see them and you loved petting them---of course you did, you are fearless! You absolutely do not know a stranger and everywhere we go you talk to everyone! It really is "presh".........

Love,
Your mommy (which you are still calling me)

Gobble Til You Wobble!!!

I thought it would be fun to look back at last year to see how much Delaney has grown---about the only thing that looks the same is the fact she still gets to sit at the head of the table at aunt Trina's house! And this year, Delaney got to eat a lot more than her organic turkey!! I couldn't believe how well she ate!
Here she was this morning eating her cookie (which was really banana bread)!! Her faces were cracking me up!
Delaney had absolutely no problem with this look....................
Or this one..............................
Aunt Catherine spent a lot of time making these "cookies"---as Delaney called them!
There are many things for which I am thankful (none of which is the way I look in this picture)....I was so proud of myself for not eating ANY desserts this year but then when I looked at this picture I realized perhaps I should have also skipped the turkey, mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, dressing, rolls.........you get the hint!
I could seriously just gobble up my little turkey!!!!

Donuts

Delaney got to have her first donut this past weekend. I know what you're thinking, that is strange and don't I ever let this kid have any fun??? I like my sweets as much as the next person but I do not buy them on a regular basis. If they aren't in the house, then they aren't in the stomach (or thighs). Delaney has a sweet tooth and I do not know where she gets it from! I wasn't surprised when she liked her "cookies"---what she called her donuts.

Here are a few "mid week randoms":

The other night while I was giving Delaney a bath this conversation happened:

Me: "Delaney, I am going to ask you a question and the answer is mommy. Delaney, whose girl are you"?

Delaney: "Dadddddyyyyy"

Me: "Delaney, whose girl are you"?

Delaney: "Dadddddyyyyy"

Me: "Should have known"

AND I GAVE HER THE ANSWER BEFORE I EVER ASKED THE QUESTION!!!!

You may recall from a previous post my mom and I are taking Delaney to the Circus---until today, I received an email (and then a call) letting me know that the circus has been canceled (for the show we were going to---of course). So, I had to change the date/time and of course it is right smack in the middle of nap time----and you KNOW I don't mess with nap time. All I know is these animals better not disappoint for my girl to miss her nap! I also know they better be passing out complimentary cotton candy for our troubles (and to keep Delaney awake)

Kids really don't need toys!

If only Delaney had toys to play with (that was written in my sarcastic "font" if you didn't catch that)....................................Now I know by now you have all signed up for Pinterest right?????? If not, you're missing out on a lot of "sweet" things like these easy desserts (crescent rolls, chocolate chips and marshmallows)......
They were so good, I think I'll go get "smore"..............................

1st Day of School

Ok, so maybe it wasn't technically "school", BUT, it sure felt like it (even though it was only 25 minutes and I was there with her the whole time).......for WEEKS I have been trying to take Delaney to the library for storytime but it's not exactly like we wake up around here with the roosters and things just kept "coming up". Storytime is at 11:00 a.m. and believe it or not, that is about "the earliest" we can be anywhere. Do you see now what the problem is going to be when it's time for her to really go to school!?!?!?! I want to make sure to blog about this because I was amazed at how well Delaney did. Since she was a newborn, I always worried about taking her out in public and how she would behave but I can honestly say I cannot think of ONE TIME (of course the day may come) when she misbehaved or had a meltdown, cried, threw a fit, etc. in public! I never want to be that parent that has to get my meal to go because of a poorly behaved child! If Delaney is anything, it's well behaved! She is a social bug and LOVES to be "out" --(despite the fact her daddy didn't want her leaving the house for fear someone would kidnap her--true story!). I should have known how well Delaney would do at storytime because she never ceases to amaze me at how well she can adapt. Let's face it, Delaney is not around small kids very often so I never know how she'll interact with other kids but she once again, amazed me. There were probably about 15 other moms/kids (1 grandpa which I thought was precious) sitting on the floor singing silly songs and listening to "Mary" (and yes, she really did have a little lamb) read 3 books---well not "every" kid. I don't know what it is about Delaney but the girl could careless about being read to! She prefers to hold the book herself, flip the pages herself---little miss independent I guess. Reading to her does NOT hold her attention---I don't know what I"ll do if the girl gets a hold of my Kindle! She sat on my lap or stood up when she was suppose to and clapped at all the appropriate times. It was as if the girl went every Thursday morning (yes, we consider 11:00 a.m. morning around here). Instead of paying attention to the books Delaney "people (or, in this case, "kid" watched). Surprise Surprise!! She pointed at all of the other "day days" which is what she calls babies. It doesn't matter if the kid is older than her they are still "day day". And there was one "day day" in particular Delaney would not stop paying attention to---BRAYDEN and yes, you are correct, "He" was a "Boy"......here was our "agenda" from Storytime......(yes, I kept it for her baby book)..............................................................
Seeing how well she did at Storytime made me realize that must be what it's like to watch your daughter leave to go to her 1st day of school (ok so maybe it wasn't THAT traumatic) but I do know that before I know it, my little heaven sent 24 lbs of pure joy WILL be walking out this front door to go to school.............(an all girl one!)
Waking up each morning trying to figure out the tough decisions......
Like which shoes to wear.................

A little of this and a lot of that!

I still can't believe it's already November, wasn't Delaney just running around outside in the sprinkler? I could just Gobble her up!Sorry we missed Wordless Wednesday (again), Delaney had a very busy day yesterday. She wanted to sit around in her pajamas and her "Justin Beiber" hair........................Even firefighters like their milk...................
and cookies............(which by the way Delaney wakes up talking about in the mornings) I heard her on the monitor yesterday morning saying "cookies".
Remember how much fun it was to go to The Greatest Show On Earth?????
We Can't Wait!
Would you believe this huge box was left by the mailman in our mailbox??????????????
For Delaney of course! Delaney better not tell me she has nothing to wear to the Circus. I mean what girl gets SEVEN new pair of shoes delivered! If you buy anything from Totsy, beware it could take a couple of weeks before it's delivered. Which was fine for us because most of these shoes don't fit Delaney yet---due to Delaney's high arch she has to wear Mary Jane style shoes which aren't cheap! So, when I hit a good sale, I shop smart!! ha ha ha
Oh and for all of you Fear Factor fans, did you know the show is returning December 12th??? CAN'T WAIT!!!! And did you hear Michelle Duggar is pregnant with their 20th baby? Now that's a lot of kids!!!

Tailgating

When Delaney woke up yesterday morning (I'll skip the part where I complain about the time change) this is what I saw! I of course walked back out of her room and went to get the camera. WHO DOES THIS??? (It is still snapped at the top)......................................The girl was ready to get dressed and get downtown to tailgate (or, she is just a weird kid!)So she hurried and got ready in her Colts attire...........................
From head.................
To toe.................(take one last look at these jeans because it's the last time she'll be wearing her "floods")........
Thank goodness Danielle remembered to take pictures (because I sure didn't)............
Cousins Jeremy, Candice and baby Logan came up from Bowling Green this weekend for a visit and to cheer on the boys in blue. When we all met after the game at aunt Trina's house I walked in and said "I want to see Logan naked"....this is what I got---but what I really wanted to see were those legs!! LOVE THEM!!! I could seriously eat that chub of his up!
Delaney kissed Logan bye and told him to come back up to Indy anytime!!
