"Our Plan" that didn't go "as planned"

We were scheduled for a c-section (today) March 29th. However, as you know, our "plan" didn't go well, "as planned". On Wed. March 24th, I came home from work with back pain. Not contractions or anything that you could "count" because it was just a constant pain. I spent Monday evening in the same situation (see prior post). At 10:00 I told David I was going to go to bed. At 11:30 I woke up to my water breaking---a VERY unusual feeling. I yelled for David (he had fallen asleep on the sofa) and he came into the bedroom and called our doctor's office. I knew our doctor was on Spring Break so I was anxious to see who was on call and luckily it was who I'd hoped it would be. She asked David how long it would take him to get me to the hospital. He told her 20-25 mins and she told him to make it sooner. With a breech baby, when the water breaks, because the head's not down, there is a risk of the umbilical cord coming out. Without going into detail, let's just say my water "broke" from the time it woke me up until I was wheeled into the OR. Now that's a lot of water!! We grabbed our half packed suitcase (I did have Delaney's diaper bag packed) and got in the car. I remember backing out of the driveway and we noticed David left the manual garage light on and decided to go back and turn it off! I think I yelled something like "LEAVE IT" (perhaps combined with a few other words) but he went back to turn it off. We got to the hospital and within minutes I was hooked up to a baby monitor, getting an IV, signing papers, etc. All I knew was I WAS HAVING CONTRACTIONS AND THIS WAS NOT IN "THE PLAN". The doctor was there just seconds behind us and she was the sweetest thing ever. More time than I care to remember went by until we got to the OR. But, when we did, within minutes I had my spinal------aaaaaaaahhhhhh no more pain!! We had THE BEST anesthesiologist ever. He kept telling David when he would need to get the camera ready, etc. Time is a little blurry for me but what I do know is that within minutes, Delaney was out!! We had a waiting room full of family who waited over THREE hours to see Delaney. I didn't expect it to take so long after she was born to "do what they do" and kept thinking why is this taking so long!!! The doctor said that my uterus was "heart shaped" and that contributed to Delaney's breech position. We finally got to our room at 3:00 AM and our family came in at 3:30 AM after their long wait. Other than being at the hospital for 3 and 1/2 days, we had a great stay and the staff was wonderful. I lost count how many visitors we had.

When we finally got released to go home Sunday afternoon, David went down to get the car and my nurse wheeled me and Delaney out. Another nurse carried our bags on a cart and they got to talking (about how much they liked Delaney's diaper bag) and got side tracked. We were SUPPOSE to stop by the nurse's station so they could remove Delaney's "ankle bracelet" a/k/a security bracelet.....well we all know how cute Juicy Couture is and how it could easily distract you (ha) and before you know it, we're at the elevator and the hospital alarm went off and the hospital was on lock down!! The security officer came over and my nurse ran to the nurse's station and told them what happened and had them turn off the alarm!! We decided it made a great story for Delaney's baby book! I told the nurse to call me if they ever want me to be their spokeswoman on how safe their hospital is! (ha). We FINALLY left the hospital and got home at 2:00 p.m. It was so nice to be back home. So although our plan didn't go as planned, we're kind of glad because we got Delaney before we "planned"......

"Life is what happens when you're busy making plans"............ain't that the truth!!

And then there were three........

This picture was taken just over 6 years ago. This was the day I knew I would marry David (I seriously told a friend "I am going to marry him" on this day).

See, I told you I would. They say this is the happiest day of your life (and yes, we were happy on this day) BUT........................

Nothing compares to this day!!!! We don't know what we did to deserve to be Delaney's parents but we know that on March 25th at 1:39 a.m. our lives were changed forever and THIS was the happiest day of our lives. That's one proud daddy under that mask (and mommy whose also on some serious drugs here)!

My Husband's In Love with Another Woman

Just when you think you couldn't possibly love your husband anymore....you watch him become a father.....

We are finally at home and enjoying the comfort of being here (there really is no place like home). But, you'll have to wait until tomorrow for a better update/post/pictures because right now someone else is occupying our time (and we couldn't be happier). We are so in love with Delaney we are about to burst. I PROMISE to post more tomorrow. Just wanted to let everyone know we're home and doing great.

My Last Prenatal Visit!

I had my last prenatal visit this morning. Nothing much to report. I was down 2 lbs so I of course asked If I am losing weight does that mean our baby is? NOPE--she's still growing they said. I can't imagine what this little girl is going to end up weighing! It was seriously the world's longest wait at the doctor's office. Of course I waited hours for about a 5 min appt. I was so excited to get out of there, I walked right past the "check out" desk and forgot to stop by and hand them my check out paper!!! I'm just waiting on them to call me as I"m sure they probably need that to bill insurance. Oh well, that's what they get for making me wait so long. I had a HORRIBLE night last night, so much that my dear sweet mother stayed the night with me (thanks mom). She was just certain "it was time" but my pains eventually went away and I'm completely fine today. I told the nurse this morning I have a plan and I am sticking to the plan (that plan being me NOT going into labor and having the c-section next Monday). She reminded me that parenthood doesn't always go "as planned"....ha ha ha So that's it--no pictures to post today!

"Welcome to Our Blog"

We decided instead of bombarding everyone with daily pictures, emails, etc., we would create a blog and let all of you come to us for updates. We realize once this baby gets here no one will really care what's going on with us and you'll only care about the baby (ha ha ha) so this is your way to see how she's growing and what she's up to. I've been promising a lot of you pictures of the nursery so until "she's" here this is all I have baby related to post!!!
