A Pumpkin? A Princess? A What???

Yep, you got it!! Delaney was a Prisoner for her First Halloween!!!!! (Prisoner of Love of course). I can't think of a more "fitting" costume for a little girl who isn't suppose to leave the house!!!! I told Delaney not every girl can wear horizontal stripes but she pulls them off just perfectly!

Introducing Prisoner #03252010

Her crime? Well that's easy....she stole my heart!

This little prisoner got plenty of mail while in jail..........

Halloween cards and books!

Our Halloween bowl was well stocked! "Mom, surely you are NOT going to leave me".................

"Like this"????????????? Delaney has "scooting" backwards down pat. It's the forward movement she hasn't mastered yet. But, that's ok, I have been "Delaney Proofing" the house this weekend for when she does.

Add one more outfit to Delaney's Halloween wardrobe!

Here are a few pictures from this month! I think Halloween is turning into Delaney's favorite holiday just like mommy's!!

I am all about personalized onesies for Delaney. I already have her Thanksgiving, Christmas and 1st Birthday onesies! If you haven't been introduced to Etsy then I highly suggest you check it out!! I "stumbled" across it when I was pregnant and I am in love with it or, if I have to be honest---OBSESSED WITH IT!

"Doesn't Every Baby Wear Cashmere"?

I finally took Delaney for her six month pictures (a month late but hey, better late than never right?) Delaney's daddy was always extravagant when it came to shopping for his girls (especially his favorite one). Before Delaney was born, the girl had cashmere delivered to the house! He said he could have bought her outfit in cotton but who are we kidding, it was for his baby girl, nothing but the best for her. I checked my closet and confirmed--nope, I don't even own cashmere! I remember asking WHO was going to be responsible for taking Delaney's outfit to the DRY CLEANERS!!!!!!!! (and yes, it needs to go because yes, she spit up in it--thank goodness after the pictures were taken). Her aunt Julie reminded her NO ONE spits up in cashmere!!! I can't enlarge these because I do not have the intelligence to so sorry for the sizes and the spacing issues (they are all different sizes).

"Lucky Seven"

How CanShe

Be
Seven

Months

Old??????

Could someone please tell me how this happened? How did I get so Lucky to have spent the past Seven months with this precious little girl??????????

Delaney Catherine,

You are seven months old today. I don't remember giving you permission to grow up this fast. You are 18 lbs of pure heaven!! You are the happiest baby I have ever known. You smile and laugh all the time and when you really get going, you snort like a pig when you are laughing. You are eating baby food now and loving it!! You only take a few bottles a day. You roll over and get up on all fours but don't crawl yet (which is good since I haven't "Delaney proofed the house yet"). You do "scoot" backwards though. Your napping is still very unpredictable and naps are few and far between. You continue to be a good sleeper at night and sleep an average of 12 hours a night. You still just have your two bottom teeth and it's so cute when you smile! We NEVER get up before 9:00 a.m. I have no idea how you're going to go to school someday since you like to sleep in so much!! You are wearing 6 month clothes and it's fun to start seeing you in new outfits (although I do miss your summer wardrobe terribly). I am easing you into wearing socks since we went all summer without them. You love to sit in your exersaucer and stare out the window. We are constantly on the go and I know that will change once winter gets here. You are just like your momma---you are such a social butterfly.

P.S. Could you please stop growing so fast???

Fun Weekend

We had another fun filled weekend. On Saturday Delaney went to her first baby shower (outside the womb that is) for mommy's friend Holly (and mom forgot her camera)! There was cake and punch and games and presents! We can't wait to meet Hollly's little boy next month. On Sunday we had a Johnson Family get together at aunt Beth's house. Cousin Cerelle came home for the weekend from IU. (Not sure why I am "hunched over")........ Delaney decided to "hang out" in the tree........
And there was cornhole (well, until the rain came that is).
Cousin Cerelle and Delaney.
And you won't believe what uncle Mac had the task of doing................
Yep, raking the leaves so aunt Beth could get a photo of Delaney!!

"Uncle Jim, please let me just eat the leaf".........
"Thank you uncle Jim".......
Here is Delaney sitting in her seat while we all ate in front of her (don't worry, she got to eat before us). She was so funny, she kept sitting up underneath the toy bar.

And would a visit to aunt Beth's be complete if we didn't come home with new stuff??????

"Delaney's 1st Pumpkin"

Introducing Delaney's "legless" elephant.......here's the story, she LOVES this thing, so much that she was sticking it's feet (which were rather large and hung from shoestrings) in her mouth---oh, and pulling on them with a death grip! I was so afraid she was going to pull one off and choke on it. Now she just chews on the ears! Sure hope I don't have to cut them off too! And here she is bottoms up TAKING A NAP!! WOOOO HOOO.........

She loves to sit in her exersaucer and stare out the windows!

And today we tried fruit, pears to be exact! I think they were tart!!

But of course she still ate them!

We went to the apple orchard today for a pumpkin (not the PERFECT one I was on a mission for but I guess that's what happens when you wait to go), apple cider and of course some cupcakes from a bakery I have been anxious to check out. I can't wait to try the Butterfinger cupcake!
(Disregard the fact our pool is still open---Delaney decided she's ready for ice skating lessons so we're just going to wait for the water to freeze)!!
First step.....cut the top!

Next step....clean it out (thanks grandma Terry!) Note it is NOT the perfect shape I was on a mission for!

And lastly, make a quick alteration to make up for the MAJOR mistake you made and VIOLA! One very girly pumpkin. Doesn't every pumpkin deserve a flower headband??? I am hoping by the time Delaney knows what a pumpkin is I can master this task!

Delaney approved!! (I think Halloween is going to turn into her favorite holiday too!) I know you're all wondering what Delaney is going to be for Halloween----we are too!! I am having a hard time deciding but since I work best under pressure, I have no doubt we'll come up with something!

"Peas and Pumpkins".......

Ever since we started working on Delaney's nursery, I've struggled with what to put on her wall above her crib. I knew I didn't want anything too big since it has the stripes on it. Then one day (while browsing the Pottery Barn kids website if I have to be honest) I thought "I think I would like to put her monogram above her bed". Now, you do realize it would look like this "DNC"......and once Delaney's dad heard about my idea it was well, I'll put it nicely "shot down". Under no circumstances were we putting up what stood for DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION!!!!!!!!! Delaney's daddy was a die hard Republican if you didn't know!!!!!!So, I continued my search and found these large letters at JoAnn's and decided, why not just a "D" (for Delaney, NOT Democrat of course). So, while I painted....
Delaney decided to kick back, relax, have a bottle and watch mom work............
Oh and we've added peas to her diet!
And despite what it looks like............
She loved them! (no really, she did)...........
We got invited next door to the neighbor's annual pumpkin carving contest on Sunday. So of course, Delaney had to dress the part.....

This was the neatest cake. It was two angel food cakes died green (there was also an ice cream machine with a "fixins" bar)!
And before you ask, NO, this is not our pumpkin, we decided not to carve our's yet (well, that is after we were informed that the small pumpkins like what we took are for baking and are a pain to carve.) This owl didn't win the contest but it sure was our favorite! "Owl" be sure to remember how creative people were for next year when we enter one! We didn't get to stay to see who own because .......................
The party must have worn Delaney out........
