Wishes Really Do Come True

The other day in the car Delaney asked me why wishes don't come true. I told her of course they do, how did she think I got her. She told me she had been wishing for a rainbow but it never came true. Then tonight, we weren't together (I mean it's Friday night of course my 6 year old was gone) and were texting each other a picture of the same one (via grandma's phone) at the same time.

I'm so glad she knows wishes really do come true!

We are gearing up for school to start next week and will update soon on what a great summer it's been!

The Gift of Memories

A friend asked me the other night what I tell Delaney about Dave....he hesitated to ask, I didn't hesitate to answer! I wasn't just left with this amazing little girl, I was gifted with more memories than you can possibly imagine!!! Like this one that I just stumbled across the other day. That's Delaney, under the pillows, blanket, and nestled in that Boppy pillow at two weeks old. Her dad put her there because he was walking into the kitchen!!! Like I said, she was two weeks old....where was she going to go???????

I mean it was National Ice Cream Day

She kept asking me if I forgot which was impossible with her reminding me all day! We decided to run through DQ in our PJ's......

And then out of our pj's for night swimming (this was the 3rd bathing suit in one day)...

Cousin Heaven

Last week we went to visit our cousins who recently moved. I think Delaney was just a little excited to love on baby Elise. The girls got to swim and we got to see their new house.

I just love to love on Elise and smell the Dreft. It makes me want to start using it again :-)
Delaney has not one, not two, but THREE new cousins on the way. One in November and two in February and she couldn't be more excited.  I hope their moms use Dreft....................

Delaney's First Crepe

I don't know what was harder, trying to explain to Delaney what a crepe was or getting her to eat it.....
It was the only thing on the menu that came close to sounding like anything she would eat (or not eat). I told her I would take her to San Francisco for a crepe someday. Not exactly France but I remember having the best crepe there. 

Oh this little toothless face, she really does have my whole heart for my whole life (even if she wastes a lot of food)!

"Dr. Newsom's in the Car"

Sometimes I look back and just never know what I'm going to get....I told her not to grab a face mask at the doctor's office but she chose not to listen and did it anyway and said "Dr. Newsom's in the car". It's so hard to discipline when you're laughing.....

And then the conversation turned to what's on her list for Santa which includes a dog and a new brother or sister. I can assure you "Santa" will not be bringing any of those things!

I don't know how I got this ridiculous, go with the flow, easy going, flexible, never ceases to amaze me little cowgirl......

After I took this picture she picked up a book and told me it was her cowgirl manual. 

She came out of her room dressed like this before her swim lesson and then she pretty much knew I would be taking this picture to post for y'all.

Mary Poppins

Shopping with Delaney isn't all that fun (and, it's expensive). I normally bring home clothes which means she has to try them on and you can see how excited she is to do that. She came out wearing this dress saying "absolutely not mother, it's gross and I look like Mary Poppins". I'm just not seeing the resemblance...

Fun Fourth

We kicked off the holiday weekend at the lake. Delaney drove the boat (eyes closed because why not), caught a fish (mom didn't get a picture), and saw fireworks. Delaney was glowing herself....

Silly Selfies.....

I had a feeling the weather would hold out for our annual party and even though I had a plan B (garage party) and C (basement party) it turned out to be a great time and it didn't rain until 11:00 pm a/k/a when people left! Everything went as planned (which is just how this type A likes it).

Delaney had the idea to make goody bags for the kids with all of the candy she got at a 4th of July parade.....

In honor of the Nathan's hot dog competition (which the guys watched on tv) we had Nathan's hot dogs....(and bbq for those of us who have an aversion to hot dogs)

And I am pretty sure the guys had the most fun with the fireworks. We made women and children get on the deck for some (and as Jenny put it we are pretty sure there is a hole to China in my backyard)!

This is one of my favorite parties with some of my favorite people!! I think one of the best things about our party this year was what didn't happen...no one text me to see if the party was cancelled!!! 

What a Week!!!

So much to fill you in on (including an engagement we are super excited about) but we are packing up to head to the lake, praying to the rain Gods it will hold out for our party, and this little one is just monkeying around....be back soon with an update!!

P.S. When did she turn into a "kid"????

I told her she was growing up right before my eyes and she said "yes, mother, that's what kids do. They grow up, go to college, get married, and have kids". Now, let's just hope those things happen in that order!!
