Look What Came!!!

We had the best day!!! We had an unexpected lunch with our friend and then went and got our "tank filled" as in propane! We are ready to start grilling!!! Then when we got home, we had these in our mailbox! Delaney got to choose the colors for everyone and she chose the awful green for me.  I told her it was just a reminder of money and how much I was spending on this trip!! She of course chose the pink!!! Disney here we come!!!!!!!!

You Understand My Addiction Now Right????

I mean I would hate for Delaney to wear the same bathing suit everyday to swim lessons......

Carnival Time!!

At lunch the other day, Julie and I were having another one of our very important lunch discussions.....SCHOOL CARNIVALS and our aversion to them!  We just don't know why the schools have to tell the kids about them. (We also talked about the prom---her daughter's, not ours and how we were sitting next to our 4th grade teacher and we couldn't believe how grey is hair was and then decided that was probably from teaching kids all his life!! Then we vowed NEVER to get grey hair!). Delaney NEVER naps but for some reason she took a 2 hour nap and likely would have slept through the carnival. But I decided to wake her up and put on my "I can't wait to go face".  Then she asked me if I was wearing a skirt! I told her she'd be lucky if I came out of my yoga pants (I did)!!

As we pulled into the parking lot she said "this is the perfect school".  Then my guilt set in again about this being her last year there (I LOVE her school---minus the carnival of course!). I told her that her new school has a MUCH better carnival....as in RIDES (and "carnival food"). She was SOLD (but I didn't tell her that we will be on vacation and will miss it).

She was most excited to do the cake walk---or in this case, the "cereal" walk.  She had one ticket left and WON!!

Introducing the breakfast of champions (she has never had any cereal except for Honey Nut Cheerios so you can imagine how excited she was!)

My favorite person

Made this "collection" for me to look at when I miss her......
She must be referring to the 10 hours a week she's in school!!!

"Forgiveness"

They say we forgive for us, not the other person (or in this case, the other store).....
Although I wasn't able to get the Lilly Pulitzer shiny gold sandals for Delaney at Target over the weekend, I did find a very comparable pair (Thank you Childrens Place)!
They didn't come in Delaney's size so I got them for next year!

So Target, I want you to know.....I forgive you!

And while I'm on the subject of shoes.....the other day Delaney was getting dressed and I told her she needed to wear her rain boots.  She told me she needed fashionable open toed shoes to go with her shirt!  My mouth fell open and she just stood there staring at me laughing wanting to know why I was speechless!

I AM TOO OLD TO BE A FIVE YEAR OLD'S MOTHER!!!
All I can say is Thank you Jesus for school uniforms!!!!

But I do ask that you immediately start praying for me for the teenage years....

Speaking of age, our contractor is getting ready to turn 40 and the other day Delaney was talking to him and she said "my mommy is forty too".  Then I said, Delaney, don't go around telling people that, they will think you are telling them I am 42!  You need to say forty-t-o-o!

Am I the only mother who is extremely upset at Target?????

Apparently, the Lilly Pulitzer sale at Target was a huge hit!! I'm talking Black Friday, website had to shut down and was sold out in THREE HOURS HIT!!
I knew all of the cuteness would sell quickly but never understood the magnitude of this never before event!!!
I did NOT get any of the items I wanted.  I did snag this white (my least favorite color on a busy 5 year old) romper online.  I wanted to cut off this little girl's feet in the picture because I did NOT get the sandals and I just hate looking at how cute they are!  I know you're wondering why I am so mad at Target....well, it's because I certainly didn't expect the extent of their inventory (two stores) to be ONE rack for women and children! O-N-E rack.......................................
I stood there standing at the dress I wanted and after coming to the conclusion I was not going to successfully squeeze Delaney in a 3T, I said "I'll just order online".  (My only other option was to tackle the lady in line who was buying it but I thought that might get ugly with the conveyor belt running and I wasn't even exactly sure what size she had, all I knew it was MY, well, Delaney's dress!)  Another customer heard me and told me it was all sold out online too!  And any other non type A mother might have just believed her but not this one!  And good thing or we would not be the future owners of the white eyelet romper.

Moving on......(to this cute little number)
I thought this would be perfect for Animal Kingdom.  We received our luggage tags today from Disney THIS IS HAPPENING PEOPLE!!!

I put this dress in the cart and then I asked Delaney if she wanted it.  Her response...."I'll say yes to the dress".............a lady overheard her and said "I love that show".  Delaney is currently obsessed with weddings and was hooked on the show after watching one episode.  While we were watching it she said "when do you think I'll get married".  I told her we needed to just focus on getting through Pre K-4!!  Then I said "but who do you think you'll marry".
She told me she hadn't found him yet!  I told her to let him find her...................

Are You Wearing Those Shoes To Gymnastics??

I decided it was time to wear my Converse (that I forgot I bought in the winter)..Delaney asked me if I was going to wear them and told me they were embarrassing!!!!
I wonder how embarrassed she would be if I wore house slippers like one of the other moms did!!!!!

Our Kids Like to "Party all the time, Party all the Time".....

When your family likes to have babies, it makes for a lot of birthday parties!!  We celebrated three birthdays (two first) over the weekend in Bowling Green in 24 hours!

Baby Lexi took to her smash cake like a champ!
It's a little creepy how she resembles The Joker in this picture (courtesy of Logan's Spiderman AND Batman cupcakes)!
Thank goodness she can look sweet too!

A little park time in between parties 2 and 3!
And an "express visit" to the zoo when we got home.........
Delaney and her daddy's favorite animal.........(mine's the polar bear)

We had a great visit and lots of fun at the birthday parties.  We even had a "donut" first birthday party at 9:00 a.m. which I would like to report the Newsom girls made it ON TIME!!! (well, maybe just a couple of minutes late because just before we left our hotel room, Delaney told me I looked like the "Duggar mom" and while I don't think that's necessarily an insult, I immediately changed)!!!

Introducing, Michelle Duggar..............

Our "Pinteresting" Easter

Our Easter started at 8:00 a.m. when I heard my doorknob turn and the sweetest little voice say "mommy, get up, do you know what day it is".............and then the next thing I heard was the alarm blaring because Delaney opened the front door to look for her Easter basket on the front porch!  And I guess that's my fault because on "Easter Eve" right at bedtime of course when I still needed to fill Easter eggs with "partially stolen" change (it was a candy-less Easter this year), I was bombarded with all sort of questions I was not prepared for! She wanted to know if the Easter bunny "hops" to everyone's house, how he gets inside and all sorts of other things I didn't know the answers to.
The "Easter bunny" had been looking everywhere for a small Wet Brush for Delaney! Have you tried one? They are GREAT.  I got the large, mommy sized version at Target.
You'll see this little number again soon......
Her first bunny from when she was born........
A quick wardrobe change.........(she refuses to remove her band-aids)  I asked her if she wanted to wear panty hose today and she told me she didn't want to because she wanted to show everyone her "shots"...................I am a sucker for cute little bathing suits. She probably has 15! Summer hurry up and get here please...........
Post Easter Egg Hunt
Always entertaining...........
Our "Pinterest" contributions.....I have a love/hate relationship for Pinterest. It can really make you feel inadequate sometimes and by sometimes I mean when you throw canned green beans in the crockpot and pick up a ham from HoneyBaked Ham when your guests show up with creations like these! We also had the Easter staples along with FIVE different desserts!!
For a week, all I heard about was our Easter egg hunt!  The girls were very entertaining to watch. And we think they may need their eyes checked since neither could find the most obvious egg!!!
Delaney pulled these out of her hat!!! (ok, my attempt at humor) after everyone left.
This is what she does when I pull out the camera......the girl really is a hot little mess!
Eating her Sushi Peeps!!
It was a great Easter...........
Easter is the holiday we host.  It is one of my favorites.  Easter was the only holiday we spent as a family of three.  Our first Easter Delaney was just over a week old.  I BEGGED her dad to let her go outside (it was a gorgeous day) for a family picture.  And, I would post it but like I said, Delaney was just over a week old and I was as big as the tree was round!!!

This Easter, after everyone left, Delaney got out her Hello Kitty karaoke machine and wanted us to have a dance party (for two).  So we danced to her Barbie Christmas CD.  It seemed appropriate considering the living room looked like Christmas after everyone brought over their non-candy Easter gifts for Delaney!!!

Good Friday

Julie and I decided we needed to celebrate the last day of Spring Break.  That's what happens once you have kids!  You celebrate your kids going back to school over several bowls of chips and salsa.
We discussed very important things like how it's completely appropriate to "recycle" your child's change from their piggy bank to fill their Easter eggs.  I thought about using the change from my wallet, but there wasn't any.  Somehow, it always ends up in that pig's pink belly!
We also discussed the library, or, in the words of Julie "that thing you call the library" and where it is located.  I always feel like a better person when I'm at the library and I thought about going but then I ended up at The Loft because I have a love affair with Lou and Grey. Specifically, how their line can dress up yoga pants and yes, I firmly believe you, or, I, can dress up yoga pants! Then it was home where Delaney ran to get me to tell me my "office furniture" came while I was gone.
Introducing my new "temporary office"..........

Fundraiser for baby Maddox

Delaney was always going to be an only child. Her dad had a million and one reasons as to why.  One of them being because "he could never go through that again".  And by that, I think he meant pregnancy!  I'm not sure if he was referring to HIS 31 lb weight gain, HIS 18 weeks of morning sickness, or  HIS 22 bathroom trips in the middle of the night!

The truth is, I know exactly what he was referring to.  He meant the 9 months of worrying that our baby would be healthy.  And as I type this, I am sitting here staring at my now 5 year old singing "You're My Sunshine" to me.  She is healthy and thriving and growing!!!

But sadly, not all parents bring home healthy babies from the hospital.  My friends' son, Maddox, who will be one this month needs a liver transplant!!!  He is precious, and he needs our help!

If you are local, please consider coming to Chik Fil A next Thursday night where a portion of the proceeds will go to fundraising efforts!!!

There is also a Go Fund Me website you can donate to, t-shirts are being made and there is a poker tournament and a reverse raffle this summer at the local Firefighters Union Hall.  There are lots of ways to donate to help cover the costs associated with their fight for Maddox!

Please help him.................

Kindergarten Shots

Delaney has known for a while she has to get shots to go to kindergarten.  I blame Doc McStuffins! I certainly never told her. I had to push my feet to move as I opened the door to her doctor's office.  I knew what was in store.....
And so did Delaney.....she tried so hard to be brave. I just wanted it over. So did she. Three band-aids later, and I found myself in the McDonald's drive thru (which I try to avoid) and Red Box!
Her Stats:

Weight: 40 lbs
Height: 3 feet, 6 inches
Vision: 20/20
Delaney is in the 50th percentile
And her doctor said she is "perfect"....his words, not mine (but of course I can't disagree).
I was also asked if she is always smiling and giggling (of course that was before her shots)!
