Fashion Friday

Delaney is just "Wild" over her animal print onesie she got for her birthday from her aunt Beth. I have always said how I don't think there's anything cuter than a baby in just a onesie!! For these hot summer days they are perfect!!! (Check out her creases that show her tan lines)

I also want to keep a record of today when Delaney decided to feed herself her applesauce with a spoon! She ate half and the other half ended up on the floor, on my outfit and I later discovered......in my hair!!!!!!!!!!!!

Delaney has had a cough and runny nose the last few days (along with some MAJOR #2 diapers-----which is why you saw her in the mismatched pajamas a few days ago) so I think she is teething again. I can't imagine which teeth she is missing since she has a mouthful!!!

Books v. Toys

When I was pregnant, I bought these..........................for Delaney's.....................................
but her daddy said she wasn't going to be allowed to have any toys (ooops!) she was only allowed to have books! But, I don't think a book about a DEMOCRATIC political candidate is exactly what he had in mind! I told Delaney her daddy would not be happy if he knew she was reading about a Democrat!!! (Please disregard the mismatched pajamas, she didn't start out like that but that's for a whole other blog post----)

"Sweet Sixteen"......(MONTHS)!!!

Every parent says "it seems like just yesterday she was born", "they grow up so fast", "they change every day" etc.....and I won't argue with any of it! I remember when Delaney was a newborn and I would look at her and think "well she looks like she did yesterday, I don't think the time is going by that fast". Clearly, after you have a baby, there is a time period where you cannot be accountable for the insanely stupid things you think and/or say!!!!! It must be the hormones (or lack of sleep)!

She continues to be the world's happiest baby.................

Most of the time....................................

So instead of being sad over the days flying by and her growing up right before my very eyes, I am just going to enjoy this "season" of our lives and continue to be thankful every night when I go to bed that when I wake up to the sound of her laughter, I will be spending another day with her because there's really no place I'd rather be.........................
And here are her highlights for this month:

• height and weight probably the same as last month (20 lbs/30 inches)
• favorite foods include bananas, shortbread cookies, breakfast bars, pancakes, crackers, french fries, carrots, applesauce, yogurt (she does not like meat)
• Delaney hasn't had a bottle in over 3 weeks. Transitioning her from a bottle to a sippy cup was no transition at all! I stopped giving her a bottle. She never had a name or was very attached to a bottle so luckily it was a smooth process. One thing I did (not even intentionally for the most part) was I didn't associate what was in the bottle with the bottle. Instead of saying "Delaney, do you want a bottle", I said "Delaney do you want your milk" or "Where's your milk v. Where's your bottle"---maybe that helped, who knows!
• her vocabulary is really expanding----"nana" is banana, mom or momma (NEVER mommy), "ju" for juice, ball, dog-dog and just tonight she covered herself with the blanket and said "boo", duck, her version of "book" and her version of "blanket" and she just did start saying bye when she waives and continues to say hi 1,000 times a day
• she loves her baths and walks down the hallway and knocks on the bathroom door if I ask her if she's ready to take a bath
• she has started to walk to the back door and I assume that means she wants to go outside but that's not happening much with these temperatures
• she walks to the kitchen if I ask her if she's hungry or wants milk
• she still has visitors every.single.day and waits at the front door when they arrive
• she has ZERO problem with me leaving and waives bye to me (there is absolutely no separation anxiety on Delaney's behalf----mine is a different story)
• lately when I take her shirt off her she knows to raise her arms up
• she plays nonstop from the minute she's up until she lays down with her toys in the living room (and by toys I mean the coasters, blankets, remote, cell phone, basically anything that is NOT a toy is what she wants to play with)
• she loves to dance whenever she hears music and doesn't have to be prompted
• she DOES NOT like to have her diaper changed and I am losing my mind (and losing the wrestling match that ensues)
• she still sleeps from 9 PM-9 AM and takes an afternoon nap that is anywhere from 2-3 hours
• she likes to take her baby (really her glo worm) to bed with her
• she has REALLY slimmed down and a lot of the summer clothes I bought her last year for this summer are too big on her
• she wears a size 4 diaper and mostly wears 12 month clothes
• she loves to clap, if she sees people clap on t.v. or anywhere she starts clapping
• she loves her baby (which is really her glo worm) and takes it to bed with her (and pretty much everywhere)
• my favorite thing she does right now is if you say "no no" to her she repeats it back to you and shakes her head "no". I will try to get it on video so you can see the cuteness!
• lately, if I ask Delaney if she needs her diaper changed, she walks down the hall and to her bedroom (and then the battle begins once she's on her changer pad)
• I hope I am not jinxing myself by typing this but at night when I ask Delaney if she's ready to go "night night" she grabs her baby and walks down the hall to her room, it is the cutest darn thing and yes I know, I need to get it on camera too!

Dear Delaney Catherine,

You are at such a fun age right now I just cannot possibly imagine what's ahead. You smile, laugh and giggle ALL.THE.TIME!!!! Everyone, including complete strangers, always comment on what a happy baby you are. Your aunt Beth said that you love to make people laugh just like your daddy (which is the #1 reason why I married him!!!!) You are sooooo easy going and I can take you ANYWHERE!!! You are full of sweetness and fill my heart with joy!! I hope that your dreams are always big and your worries are always small (I also hope that you want to live with your mommy forever but we can talk about that later)!

"We Are Family I Got All My Cousins With Me"

"Delaney, that is not exactly the shot we're going for here"...........

"Much Better....." (I just had to laugh as I was uploading this picture. The first thing I noticed was MY KID is the only one wearing shoes! Now, if you're a faithful blog follower then you know how funny that really is)!!!!

I was stumped on what I wanted to say about this picture (minus the fact I was too lazy to put up the garden hose and the fact Delaney is back to her "shoeless" self again) so I'll just say what Great Grandma Purichia always says "Just Look What I Started".....................................
By the time you read this post, Delaney's cousins will be back to their home in Kentucky, living in a new home in Washington, and vacationing at Disney World. We had such a good visit with our cousins but unfortunately, we had such hot temperatures we didn't get to do much together but visit and eat (which is really all the entertainment we need). As cousin Jenny put it best when we get together all we really need to know is "whose house are we squeezing babies at tonight" DO YOU LOVE IT????? We pass around babies like it's nobody's business!!! Delaney played hard today with her cousins (even skipping her nap!) and was ready to call it a day come bedtime (heaven forbid she go to bed early since she didn't nap) and when and I told her to get her baby (she grabbed two) she walked down the hall (didn't get to suck her thumb as usual due to holding baby#2) and walked right into her bedroom and up to her crib (and NO, this does not happen every night!!). As I walked behind her down the hall and heard the pitter patter of her chubby little feet I thought as I turned around and walked back down the hall "before I know it those same feet (hopefully not so chubby and "high arched") are going to be STOMPING down that hall because she is mad at me for telling her to put on a different outfit or take off that make-up!" ha ha ha .....OH if I could just hit the pause button or freeze time so I could hear that pitter patter forever...........................

We figured the next time Delaney sees all of her cousins it will be Christmas. So again, we'll be stuck inside but not because of the heat, because of the cold!! So guess we'll just have to eat, visit and of course........ squeeze babies!!!!

Fashion Friday

It's hard to tell in this picture but these little numbers are pale pink with white polk a dots. Delaney got them for her birthday from her aunt Beth (and yes, I squeezed those chubby high arched feet of her's in them---BEAUTY HURTS PEOPLE!)And those shoes just so happened to match this little pink outfit that Delaney's aunt Beth also got her (I got this for my baby shower and for the record, it is a size 3-6 months! HELLO CALVIN KLEIN there is NO baby in the world who could wear this at 3-6 months! What were you thinking???). There is a matching hat but you can imagine how long Delaney keeps hats on these days! There's a lot of space under Delaney's underarm so maybe just maybe she can wear it next year as a shirt----wouldn't that be funny, her wearing a 3-6 month shirt next year!!! Stay tuned.
Grandma Terry and I (and Delaney of course) met cousins Caleb and Amelia and aunt Catherine and aunt Trina at Chuck E. Cheese (which I had not been to in years and was pleasantly surprised---it was completely remodeled and there is no stage anymore--oh, and now they have this system where they make sure you don't walk out with someone else's kid!!). I refused to let Delaney sit in their high chairs (or touch ANYTHING) can you imagine how dirty and germ infested those things are??? So, we brought her travel chair and eating mat!!!!
And then it was time for some fun!!! It was hard to get pictures of "Superman" he's not really into taking pictures (guess he's too busy saving lives)!!!

Cotton Candy!!! And I didn't even freak out that it wasn't organic!!!! ha ha ha (See what I mean about all that space under her arm!!!) Oh and please disregard the wrinkles in her outfit, it was 100 degrees here today! OH, and I don't iron!!!
And then it was time to go home so this little blue eyed beauty could hit the hay! (And so Delaney could take a bath and clean off all of the germs I wasn't able to prevent from getting on her!). It was so nice to get out of the house. We had been in for the last two days!!! We have more family in town today and can't wait to see them!!! Stay tuned!

Girls Day Out......

Delaney and I got up today and started getting ready for our fun girls day with cousins Elaine and Amelia......as I was getting ready this morning, I text my girlfriend who has a 2 and 1/2 year old and a one month old and said "how the heck (ok, it didn't say "heck") do you get ready with two kids"....then she text me something about "it gets easier to get ready as they get older" but that was about the time Delaney dropped her sippy cup on my foot (the sprained one of course! Although it is healing, well, it was until I twisted it when I jumped in the pool) Anyway, back to this picture. I was getting ready a couple of weeks ago and thought "gosh before I know it Delaney is going to be able to open up THIS drawer and pull stuff out"....well, just about the time I said that to myself, you can imagine what she did! She pulls everything out when she is in the bathroom with me.......if you can't tell from the picture, this bathroom is about a square foot larger than a crackerjack box! SO, there's not a lot of room for her "duck ducks" when we're in there! But, I still follow the "whatever it takes" motto when I"m getting ready and if that includes "duck ducks" then so be it!!! Note in this picture Delaney is wearing a bow in her hair, a skirt and her shoes......................We finally got to the mall and took a break for lunch. It's never too soon for girls to start shopping together.
And check out Delaney on the way home...........she kept her hand on Amelia's car seat!!! It was so cute.
But that didn't last long......................(neither did the skirt, hair bow, or shoes!)

so to improvise, we got out the sprinkler yesterday for Delaney to play in but she wasn't really enjoying it.............................
then we remembered we are fortunate (or is it unfortunate???) enough to have a pool and she hopped right in after breakfast!!!!

Fashion Friday

Sorry we missed "Fashion Friday" last Friday. Delaney got up and I put her in her play clothes (not that they weren't fashionable) and just didn't get a chance to take her picture (oh and I was in a hurry to get out of town for the weekend)!!! You know how "pool people" always seem to have a ton of bathing suits? Well, Delaney is NO exception the girl has one for every day of the week!!! She just got this bikini (with a matching wrap) from her uncle Jim and aunt Essie and couldn't wait to wear it.............here she is playing with my camera case.

Finally!!

We got our..................................................................back today! Oh and that alternator that needed replaced DIDN'T!!! Once it was towed to the dealership THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT!!!!! I know it's strange to WANT something to be wrong with your car but when you're carrying precious cargo around with you like this................
you want to make sure it's NOT going to break down on you Ever Again!!!!!! After two days of running every diagnostic test possible, it was apparently a "phantom problem" which does NOT make me feel any better! So, our car is garaged and will likely never be driven again!!!! ha ha

"We're Baaaack!"

Did you wonder if we went on vacation?? Well as a matter of fact we have...to AFRICA!!! Which really just means we walked out our front door!! These hot summer Indiana days are getting the best of us. Delaney and I can't take the heat (or the cold for that matter)!!!! But enough of the weather, we have family in town and we FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY got to meet Delaney's cousin, Amelia.....don't those baby blues just melt your heart?????? She's sweet and perfect and we love her.........And her big brother Caleb too......I must say looking at these pictures makes me realize my girl is getting big. I can't recall ever watching her interact with other kids (she's not around a lot of them) and she and Caleb played together like they played together every.single.day. Never mind the fact Delaney met Caleb just once before and that was a year ago!!! Never mind the fact Caleb just moved from North Carolina!!!! I just couldn't believe my eyes to watch her "play" with Caleb!! I have half a mind to ship this kid off to daycare for some interaction (and a chance to wear all of her cute summer dresses!).....oh who am I kidding, she (I mean I) wouldn't last one day!!!
And if you're wondering if that's a hair bow in her hair...........
Why yes, it certainly is!! I RARELY put anything in her hair (despite her LARGE hat box FULL of hair accessories) but I think when I pull it back it makes her look more like a baby and that does my heart good!
And while our family is in town, some of "the girls" decided to go for a "girly" lunch today at a tea room. So, Delaney and I got up, got baths and put on our dresses (which by the way, I ironed Delaney's last night----and if you don't know this about me----learn it---I DO NOT IRON!!) I just had to laugh as I was ironing a 12 month dress. I know before I know it, I"ll spend many nights up late ironing Delaney's clothes!!!!! I was so mad, I left the matching headband on our kitchen island!!!! Oh, and in my defense, her dress got wrinkled sitting in her car seat!!!
I couldn't resist a picture of my lunch--I seriously could have ordered ONE OF EVERYTHING! I decided on the turkey and asparagus wrap (with blackberry tea)..........oh, and the pina colada pie did I mention that? Oh, I didn't, ok, never mind then!!
Now that's a lot of women----and a lot of sweet tea!!! Look at my little sweet cheeks making sure she's in the picture!!! How funny is she!!?!?!?!
And the sweet tea wasn't lost on Delaney........aunt Teresa shared!!!
And then on the way home our car decided to "stop running" shall we say.....PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME IF I RAN OUT OF GAS------I consider a 2009 vehicle (especially one with just 17,000 miles--what can I say I am a stay at home mom, I don't go anywhere) to be "brand new" ....but then again, I am also the same person who thinks my 15 month old is a "newborn"........anyway, I immediately called my mom and she came to get us. Isn't it funny how a thirty-something year old calls her mom first when she has car trouble? And no, my mother is NOT a mechanic!!!! I guess being a mom really does mean dropping whatever you are doing to "rescue" your kids.....thanks mom!! (Oh and that "brand new car" of mine needs a new alternator)!!!!

Besides almost taking her afternoon nap on the living room floor by the front door......
And besides a quick timeout to play??????
We have had landscapers here these last few days and she just has to see what they're up to!!!! And if you noticed, YES, she got ANOTHER haircut but I simply can't talk about that yet! We'll be sure to post pictures of our landscaping so you can see what kept her from taking her nap until 3:30 p.m.!!! See what I mean about her being sooooo nosey?????
