"Family Heirloom"

Are you wondering what the title is all about? Well, I"m not sure what exactly constitutes a family heirloom and maybe that term isn't really meant for clothes but it's late and well, this is my blog so just go with it..............Delaney's grandma Cathy was kind enough (or not) to save ALL of MY baby clothes and since Delaney is A. a girl and B. was born in March she can wear my clothes! (Except this is a size 12 months and you don't know it but I had to safety pin the shorts because they were way too big in the waist.....surely, over time, the elastic disintegrated right? Because you know if not what that means................



***if you're wondering why the quality of these pictures is so great don't get excited (or used to it) aunt Karey bought a super new fancy camera and came over yesterday to take these. I can't tell you the last time I didn't have to edit pictures for the blog!

Runny Nose..........

Delaney's nose is running faster than Hurricane Irene's wind gusts so we've stocked up on...............And this (no clue what the difference is between baby v. adult---probably just the pink cap)

Organization Fest of 2011

It was love at first sight.......(and I"m not just talking about blondie here---that's a given!)Delaney was as excited as I was!
She wanted to rip open the box!
So we did.......................
And there it was, our new "Erin Condren" Life Planner (or, "LP" for short!) Delaney's Doings seemed like the appropriate title (thanks to grandma Terry)! I was shocked to see it's as thick as a text book (well, from what I can remember!) Good thing I carry a big handbag (or make that diaper bag!)
And wouldn't you know Delaney opened it right up to "our" favorite month---October!!! Or maybe she's just excited to wear her pumpkin colored leggings!!!
And check out all the "stuff" that came with it..............
Free gift labels for me....................(I know, you're hoping to receive "just a little something" from me now aren't you??)
And of course they wouldn't leave out some for Delaney too!
I thought this was a neat saying (sorry the following photos have shadows!)
Great place for birthdays/anniversaries/special dates, etc.

And in the back is a clear zipper pouch to hold stuff......(and I forgot to photograph the pre- made labels that are for doctor appt, pedicure, manicure, hair appt, etc and they also included tons of blank ones for me to fill in!)

Oh, and the BEST part is they sent me this card for $25 OFF a future order and since I am feeling generous today I thought I would GIVE IT AWAY!!! Ok so that was A LOT of pictures (gosh, have I ever even posted that many of Delaney in a post?) but I love finding products and passing them along (this is where all of the GGBC girls are reading and thinking "Ashley do not tell us one more time to go out and buy the Neutragena make up remover cloths"!!). Erin Condren's website (www.erincondren.com) has TONS of neat stuff (especially for a "paper geek" like me!!) Unfortunately, a few days after I ordered mine someone hacked into her site and she lost all of her orders so it took a bit longer to get mine but I was updated with emails from the company on its progress. I think it was less than 2 weeks total. (I bet you think I am getting paid to say all of this don't you???). I learned about these LP's on guess where????? BLOGS (this was the other exciting thing that was going around everyone's blogs like crazy and now we're all receiving them and showing them off on our blogs). Once I learned about them I immediately went to their site but HELLO I was NOT I repeat NOT going to pay the $50 price tag. So, two days later (and right after signing up for Plumdistrict.com) the daily deal was $25 for a $50 purchase with Erin Condren and then as an added bonus all of the stars magically aligned and I got another $5 off for signing up with Plumdistrict and got my planner for $20!!!!!!! (shipping was $8 from California to Indiana---way cheaper than an iphone or ipad people!). I also forgot to mention the planner is for the remainder of 2011 and all of 2012.....THERE! So do you think I could have a career in sales???? Now type as fast as you can to email me for the post card/coupon code!!! Ok, I guess you can go to their website first to pick out which one you can't live without. They come in multiple designs. You don't have to get a photo cover of me and Delaney (unless you wanted one of course!) Ok, done making myself laugh now.......

Seventeen Months!

Did I really just type that? It feels more like 17 minutes ago this little girl came into this world!! She is into sooooo many things these days so I thought I would just illustrate with pictures (some you've already seen) like playing with the remote control(s)..............."Stripping" when she's in her crib................................

I joke and say there are really only 3 things Delaney needs (other than food, clothing, shelter) and those are her BABY, BOOK and BLANKET!!!
She is such a curious little girl.......
who has started feeding herself with utensils...............
or not.................(and yes, she just got her THIRD haircut)

• I don't know her official "stats" since we don't go to the doctor for another month so those are probably still what they were last month along with her "sizes".
• Delaney has been sleeping incredibly long hours (hopefully I didn't just jinx myself) and napping really well in the afternoons. I am not sure if she's going through a growth spurt or not (I sure hope not!). She gets up in the morning and immediately has breakfast (cereal bar, banana, pancakes, oatmeal) and her milk. Then it's time to play!!! She can destroy the living room before I know it.
• It's incredible how much she's changed just since last month. She has added some words to her vocabulary (yogurt, cracker, book and "uh oh" come to mind) and we are really in the phase of me saying "Delaney, can you say __". It's so cute to see what's going to come out!!! She has been saying "mamma" a lot but of course MOMMY is not in this kid's vocabulary! What am I Caroline Ingalls????
• She went through this phase of tearing the pages from her books but lately she's done soooo much better with not doing that. She loves her books (or her version of that word) but isn't into sitting still and being read to she just likes to turn the pages.
• She is doing much better about sitting still for her diaper changes (again, hopefully I didn't just jinx myself)
• I am in a rut about what foods to feed her, I feel like she eats the same thing over and over so I'm going to be reading my "Baby Food Bible" book for some new ideas
• She gives kisses and hugs (but only when she wants to)
• She still has lots of summer clothes she hasn't worn yet (ya, I know, that was totally random)
• She has been letting me put her to bed before 9 lately and I admit....it's soooo nice!!
• She knows where I keep her foods so she'll walk into the kitchen and stand in front of the cabinets and point
• She LOVES being outside and stares out the front door and runs to the back door. I don't know what you're going to do when winter comes (but don't worry, "mamma" got you a snowsuit last year---on clearance of course!)
• You still aren't into watching t.v. (which is fine by me because I know soon enough we'll be fighting over what to watch!)

Dear Delaney Catherine,

You are at such a fun stage right now. It's amazing to watch you learn and communicate. But then again, I never was worried about you communicating!! The apple doesn't fall far from the tree as they say! We have so much fun together and have had a great summer---make that "are having" a great summer!! Motherhood is everything I knew it would be and at the same time nothing at all! You continue to be the sweetest little thing I have ever laid my eyes on (although I never expected to lay my eyes on blonde hair and blue eyes!)

Wordless Wednesday

I think we've got a serious problem on our hands....

I guess I don't have to worry about Delaney taking off her diaper in her crib. It's more "what's on top" that is coming off these days!She always throws her blanket (and usually her baby but she was in the washer) on her floor but now she's throwing out her clothes (after she takes them off)!!!!
She cannot keep her hands out of her drawers when she's in her room (she agreed it was time to put her dress back on)..................
And I know this is only the beginning because someday she's going to be able to reach high enough to open the door and go in there and destroy her room! Look at her up on her tip toes!
I told her to put away her pumpkin colored leggings...............
She agreed it's way too soon to put them on since October is still a way's away!!!

I have been waiting to put this outfit on Delaney and we finally had a day where it wasn't in the 90's and since I keep our house at 70, Delaney finally got to wear it!!! Remember when Delaney just had to go to Texas to get a new pair of cowgirl boots??? Well, while we were there we stumbled into a store called Naartjie (their clothing has an African "flare") and are very unique (just wait until you see the jean jacket Delaney just had to have from there).
