Well, it happened.....

Delaney said "this is what my school picture will look like".

And then she told me this was big news and should be on Fox 59 news......

FearLESS

Delaney doesn't seem to have inherited my fear of heights. We went with friends to Kids Commons and headed straight to the rock wall........

Apparently that wasn't enough.....

Then next door for a little of this....

Then off to the festival (if you look closely, you can see how thrilled she is to be on this)

Then she upgraded while I stood and watched her do this because momma ain't getting on a ferris wheel....I like my feet on the ground thank you very much.

Or on the Tilt A "World" as Delaney calls it......after this we rode the spider or what is now apparently called the octopus and I am positive I saw my life flash before my eyes! Delaney was in the one next to us and I could hear her screaming with excitement over us screaming for our lives!!! We agreed it wasn't near as scary (nor did it spin so much) when we were kids. Those who valued their lives more than us, stood and held our purses and drinks and listened to us scream with their feet on the ground which is where I should have left mine!

More ice cream...Who picks this over an elephant ear????

I managed to somehow leave ALIVE, and without a lemon shake up or elephant ear this year.

She also loves the swings (again, no thank you). She went 3 days in a row and only wanted to ride the big rides. She was like a little teenager at the festival running into classmates (not wanting me to take her picture "see above") and running off not telling me where she was going. Little "upper classmen" recognized her and came up to hug her, it was so cute!! 

We had a great week! Painters came, furniture was delivered and our living room makeover is almost complete.

We have another great week ahead with a fun surprise trip for Delaney and a concert for mom. And I am sure this time next week Delaney will have one less tooth to brush!

Finding Dory

Or as I prefer to call it, "Finding Air"......

In true form, the recent storm didn't surprise us and knocked out our power for 26 hours but who's counting besides us (certainly not IPL). And since they are in my contacts, which really isn't necessary since by now I know their number better than my own, a quick call told me we would be out for up to 48 hours, also known as "I don't think so"!

When they finally showed up to turn on the 20 houses (just our side of the street), I told them we needed to get a plan in place but all they wanted was beer while they waited on the tree trimmers (of course I didn't give the driver any and not just because he was out napping in the truck)! Cold beer was an easy fix for keeping them put and only available because Dave's friend brought over a generator which literally saved our lives (and a refrigerator full of groceries)! After waiting an hour for the tree trimmers to trim (of course it would be a tree in our yard that was causing the outtage), we were back in business, well, until the next time.....

Oh and the movie, so cute!!! In the words of Delaney, "I love a happy ending"....

I forgot how much I miss them......

No "e" on the end

I love having this little space to share stories for Delaney to eventually read like how on the night Dave proposed, we went to one of our favorite festivals and how I went to it the other night and as we were walking up, my friend's band was playing the song we danced to at our wedding (Dave picked it).

And how I was at the furniture store today giving my name to the sales girl and as I was spelling my last name and telling her there is no "e" on the end, she told me she grew up with a guy who spelled it just like that and his first name was Dave and did I happen to know him.  Why yes, and as a matter of fact............................

And then she told me I looked like I was in my 30's (she and I were both the same age) and then I just wanted to give her a great big hug but of course I was running late to pick up Delaney Newsom (no "e" on the end) from VBS.

No luck on the furniture (probably because I walked in and said I need two end tables that do not match---I prefer to coordinate, that are part light wood, part metal and need to be 24 inches tall with storage).  She told me she liked a customer who knew what they were looking for! She probably likes them better if they find it in her store.  I didn't get any tables but I walked out feeling like I got something so much better.

Besides some teeth.....

Delaney is swimming without her puddle jumper and I can hardly stand to look (except to take her picture). 

Wrapping up our Week

Delaney went to the gym with me this morning so naturally, last night she wanted to pick out what she would wear (which ended up not being at all what she wore) #likemammalikedaughter #dressforsuccess #weloveourzellas

When we left she asked if we had to come home and take showers but seeing how she spent the whole time on the ipad it appeared just one of us needed to!

I decided before we quarentined ourselves in the house all weekend with the a/c cranked up, I would enjoy a little reading time out back with a new book.

While Delaney hung out inside watching this....ever heard of it? ME NEITHER, I think it's a series from the UK. Delaney bought this On Demand yesterday and I got an email from Comcast thanking me for my (Delaney's) purchase. When I asked her about it she told me it said F-R-E-E and I told her no, it said T-E-N! Then I told her I was going to take $10 from her piggy bank but seeing how I had already taken money earlier from it (see yesterday's post), I decided I owed her, or, her piggy bank and I were even! Either way, the strawberry shortcake was worth the $7 and the calories.......

Delaney's allergies are in full swing and I took her to the doctor who took all of 60 seconds to tell me her ears and chest were clear and to keep giving her Allegra. He also referred to her as a toothless wonder which I thought was pretty funny but not $75 worth of funny.....so Delaney is inside watching movies (or maybe Doc Martin) and I am outside reading and we have no idea who's going to do the laundry.......guess we'll do that during our self-imposed quarantine.

Never a dull moment.....

The Newsom Twosome have been having so much fun since school let out. Summer camp is over and I now know for next year I have to sign Delaney in and out every day. The "out" isn't the problem, it's the "in" that didn't work for me and my "morning attire".  

Swim lessons start this week (I have someone coming to our house this year) and VBS next week (thank you Jesus LITERALLY for a 9:00 start time), and we have several overnight trips this month to new places. Our weekday pool parties have begun and plans are in the works for our annual 4th of July party! Summer is in full swing and I have a feeling it's going to be a great one. I have lots of blogging to catch up on once I can keep my nose out of books. I'm actually wrapping up this post so I can finish this one which I HIGHLY recommend......
